Better Late Than Never

Time Flies Like The Wind,

Fruit Flies Like Bananas

But seriously folks, can you believe autumn is here and in the blink of an eye it’s going to be 2009? This year has been another really good one for Friq & Fraq and, as always, we have a lot of people to thank for that. First of all, we (Bret, Dennis and Ron) want to thank our families for putting up with our crap for another year. We also thank our co-workers for covering for us on all those mornings after. We thank D & J productions (Dean, Joan and Diana) for the music menus that lead everyone to believe that we can play a lot of stuff. Thanx to Chris for keeping traffic moving on the information highway by updating the website. Thanx to the bar owners, old and new for having us in and to their bartenders and servers for taking such good care of everyone. Although it’s been said many times, many ways, none of the above would matter if it weren’t for the continued support of the Jagheads. We can’t thank youse guys enough for coming out to party with us. We are truly blessed to be surrounded by so many good people. Thanx for a great ‘08 and God bless you all in a fine ‘09.

But Really, Who’s Counting?

Just as a point of reference: at the time this newsletter was completed, there were 85 days until Christmas. Since then it’s been to the printer, been to the Post Office and been out wandering around in mailbags.

Have you started your shopping yet?

Does Anyone Else Smell A Soapbox?

Without getting too far out there, you are all encouraged to go out and vote on November 4th. It’s been said that opinions are like assholes; everybody has one and they all stink. While I would argue the second part of that, the first has seldom been more true. Being in bars three nights a week we get to hear lots of opinions. (no, really?) This election the majority of them are interesting, quite a few are controversial and some are just this side of enlightened. Point is, it seems very few people are on the fence this time around. Let’s all take it to the polls and decide where we go from here. Oh, by the way; If you don’t vote, don’t bitch.

Go ahead, feel free to write me in.

And Now For Something Completely Different

It’s time once again to find out just how creative, courageous, contagious and outrageous you guys can really get. I’m not talking about a hot tub party either. We welcome everyone to the annual Halloween Party at Rafters. To our knowledge there will be prizes for most original, scariest, best couple and best overall. Why not get in touch with your inner child?

Please Allow Me To Pontificate

As most of you know, this writer tends to get a little sentimental as each year draws to a close. I would like to point out a few days on the calendar that I believe deserve mention. November 11th is Veterans Day and December 7th is Pearl Harbor Day. I hope both give cause to remember the men and women who sacrificed all so we might live as well as we do. As stated in the emails, “If you can read this, thank a teacher. If it’s in English, thank a soldier.” Of course, the Grande Finale on the holiday circuit would be Thanksgiving, followed by Christmas. While everyone has their own religious, personal and family traditions, the basics are the same for one and all. We can hide behind the shield of ‘time constraints’ most of the year, but it’s a really good idea to take a little break during the season of peace and love to let those nearest you know that they are. Sometimes the best gift one can receive is a phone call. Got a minute?
